In watercolour, colour behaves like paint on wet paper: washes, gradients and splashes that follow a line or stand on their own.
I almost always combine it with fine line. The lines define the shape, leaving the colour looser. That keeps the drawing clear even as the colour fades over the years.
Hummingbirds, butterflies and flowers are what I’m asked for most, but any idea can have a watercolour version. We choose the palette with your skin tone in mind too.

Does watercolour fade?
Colour fades over time, especially in the sun. That’s why I almost always combine watercolour with lines that keep the shape clear. I recommend sun cream once the tattoo has healed.
Can watercolour be done without an outline?
Yes, though the tattoo loses some definition over the years. If you prefer looser colour, we’ll find a design with stronger areas of colour to help it keep its shape.
Which colours work best on my skin?
It depends on your skin tone. On fair skin almost any palette works; on deeper skin tones, richer colours work best. We’ll look at it together before designing.
