Micro-realism

For a pet tattoo, I work from your photos. I want to see the animal you know, rather than draw just any dog of the same breed. In a portrait, I pay particular attention to the eyes and the features that make them recognisable. That’s why choosing the image matters so much.

In my portfolio, you can see a border collie, a labrador and the dog in “Amor eterno”. They show how I approach a dog tattoo in micro-realism. You can look at them to get an idea of the result, but I don’t repeat the drawing: I create your pet’s portrait from their own photos.

Look for pictures taken in natural light, with the eyes in sharp focus. If you’re choosing between several, send them over and we’ll look together. You might have a favourite because of the memory it brings back; tell me about that too. It helps me understand what you want to keep from the image when I turn it into a drawing.

To prepare a pet portrait in Barcelona, I also need to know where you’d like to wear it. The drawing is made for that placement and for you. We discuss the size before you book, with the photo in front of us. If you haven’t decided yet, tell me which options you’re considering.

If you’re thinking about a tattoo of a pet who has died, you don’t need to tell me more than you feel comfortable sharing. You can send me a photo and say you’d like a portrait. If you want to tell me about your pet, I’m here to listen. There’s no right way to approach that memory or a design you have to choose.

You might want their whole face or prefer to focus on their eyes. We talk it through using the pictures you have, without you having to decide everything when you first write to me. My part is to prepare a drawing for you. What it means and how you want to remember your pet are for you to decide.

I work by appointment in a private studio in Eixample, near Passeig de Gràcia. Before you book, I go through the photo and tattoo idea with you and give you a quote. Each portrait is drawn for the person who’ll wear it; the portfolio is there as a reference.
